Our BEC3 experiment has been constructed on the ruins of our BEC2 experiment (a Ioffe Pritchard type trap, which died due to coil failure). BEC3 is a magnetic TOP-type trap with excellent optical access. We will work on free-space matter-wave optics, gravitational compensation experiments, and sub-shot-noise detection and control of BECs.
